Yesterday was today. I didn't write my BEER blog yesterday as I wanted, so today is a two for one. Sometimes we come across those days that seem like an avalanche. So much activity yesterday that today I'm feeling its affects.
From taking my car into the mechanics, walking around East Austin with its strong windy gusts of cedar filled air, I was watery and sneezing like a baby when I got to Purveyors coffee shop. It was 930am. A great catch up with friends, running into peeps and making deals, I got the lease for my business paid then trained a rambunctious group of young martial arts kiddos. It was at that time the toilet decided to crap out. Yeah I said that. Actually the wax sealant broke off and there was all this pleasant brown water flow coming from under the base of said toilet.
Oh let me back up, I went home to pack a bag as I was staying at a friends house last night. I manage to eat a great tortilla chicken salad at Gourmands pub. Quick beer connection there, day drinkers are some of the nastiest folks ever.
Ok, Ubered to friends house, while picking up a six pack, for my friends now! And a huge Homeslice pizza. Is there Uber etiquette as I was talking to my girlfriend on the phone for a minute while in the front seat. I had to update her on my day. This new relationship is quickly becoming my sanity go to. She's a fantastic conversationalist not to mention a gorgeous soul.
So while in line to pay for said drinks and pizza, the cashier asked how my day was. I sighed deeply and said, "Crazy good." In the midst of that packed, pizza bakery heaven, he paused and looked right at me, wide eyed curiosity. "These are the days we train for." I politely added
He asked how so and I said "I teach jiu jitsu and we endurance storms while calmly sipping tea." BLEW HIS MIND.
Point being is that troubles often come at you in armies, you have to keep a cool head the whole time and whenever you can laugh, laugh alot. That crazy good day of yesterday has its affects today on me. I'm so happy with my behavior throughout the day, checked in with people who mean alot to me to make sure I was on point. I even got to help out a friend in dire need that I won't go into. My car it still in the shop and as I write these final few lines, one of my students is fixing the toilet with new parts. I'm so lucky and grateful. but shit, I also deserve this moment as I trained for these moments of brilliant reflection and speechless wonder.. Today, I made it through yesterday. See you on the down the road.
