I had skipped yesterday. Well that's not true as the whole Oscars thing weighed on my mind all day yesterday. What prompted me to finally write about it was seeing an Latino actor's post talking about they would never miss the Oscars cause wanted to see Leo win. They wanted to know what would Chris Rock say? A completely naive frat boy was all I could think. And I was was being nice. I don't think this actor spent a solid work day in Los Angeles, pound the pavement. Disgraceful. So yeah that was my inspiration on that.
It's evening time and I've gotten some nice replies on the last blog, lot of people and some great comments. I even had a good phone conversation on it. Where this person who I talked to is a working actress in the business. I don't want to belabor the point, but she agreed with the blog but it also made her sad and mad. Exactly! We talked about how hard it is to carve out the character you want where you are not playing these horrible stereotypes. Well I'm glad people are digging it.
When I heard that Spike Lee was going to be on GMA I made sure I was gonna peep it out and boy he did not disappoint. Interesting that he stated that he never used the word "boycott." He simply said he and his wife were not going to attend the awards. He then called back to 1988 when the best picture that won that year was Driving Miss Daisy over his seminar work, Do The Right Thing. I mean my heart filled when talked about his film being taught in university across the world. I mean who watched Driving Miss Daisy? Anyways Mr. Lee can do much better than I. Peep the video and see you on down the road.
