What is Bravo?
BRAVO is a series of stories I have been working on for over the last fifteen years. With influences ranging from my Chicano culture to the The X Files, I wanted to create a flawed hero that struggles with alcoholism and doing what is right. Chapter one has been written now for years as well as the chapter breakdown for the entire first book. I want to write and upload a new chapter after the audience gets to read and comment on the story. Since this is an incredible visual story I wanted images to support the story. I still haven't decided whether this will end up as a movie script, novel or comic.
In talking with artist Courtnee Blackmon, I wanted new images to debut with each new chapter. The images above are early rough sketches of Bravo as an Toltec hero. I wanted a defiant attitude in Bravo. I also wanted new found hope and acceptance in his new role as a hero.
I loved the second image of Bravo, breaking the mold of the obedient and stoic warrior, he hoists his weapon over his shoulders. Such a great moment captured. I'm really excited to see what Courtnee further creates as these simple images have inspired some great new ideas for the chapters ahead.
I will announce the first chapter release and finished images soon. JANUARY RELEASE!
A supernatural murder mystery. Joe Bravo, a burnt out ex-Detective, is hired to find the son a Senator, who was kidnapped and later found in a comatose state. Soon Bravo discovers thousands of catatonic children, including his own son. His supernatural journey will lead him through the Nine Levels of the Aztec mythical underworld called Mictlan. When in Mictlan, Bravo battles against evil Aztec Gods from the past. To fulfill his heroic destiny, Bravo faces his most terrible nightmare, the death of his own son, and his fight to free the souls of the young children.
